Electrical problems

I have a 2002 Softtail Standard and I was driving down the highway the other day and suddenly everything shuts off. I had no lights and no power at all. I pulled over to the side and sat there for awhile. I later put the key back in the ignition and the motorcycle turned back on.  Everything was normal. I decided to quickly drive it back home, but it kept shutting down several times on my way back. What do you think is causing this problem? In my opinion it might be the ignition switch. What does everyone else think? Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem like that before. You may want to check where the battery and wire attach to the frame of the motorcycle. You may also want to go behind the ignition switch to make sure that everything is tightly connected. Any loose wiring will always cause trouble. You should go so far as to trace the main power feed all the way back to the battery for broken or worn out insulation.
