Harley Chat » Exhaust temperature
I am in the process of doing a jet-hot type coating on my pipes and from what I’ve read, Jet-Hot offers several different types coating based on temperature. So I need to know what is the average temperature of exhaust gases. I’m guessing that temperature is the hottest coming out of the head and somewhat cooler exiting the exhaust. Am I right?
Softail » Need help adjusting the clutch on a 2005 Heritage Softail Classic
My buddy and I want to adjust the clutch on a 2005 Heritage Softail Classic. A few mornings ago it shifted hard into first gear. Sometimes if the clutch is pulled and its in gear, it will also pull a tiny bit forward. I’m assuming this is a clutch problem and it needs to be adjusted. Any suggestions on how to adjust the clutch? I have a motorcycle’s manual, but there are some pages that are missing and the information on the clutch seems very complicated to understand. Can anyone offer some simple instructions to adjust the clutch? Thanks
Harley Chat » Harley Davidson to cut jobs?
There's been a lot of talk about the slow down in motorcycle sales, especially Harley Davidson. I suppose with gas prices going up, “toy” sales will drop too. We all know that motorcycles get excellent millage per gallon, but it is very difficult to drive a family of four on a motorcycle. The question I keep asking, are gas prices the only reason for the cut back in the purchase of motorcycles? Do you think there are other things going on with our economy that are causing people to rethink about how they are spending their money?
Maintenance » Electrical problems

I had a similar problem like that before. You may want to check where the battery and wire attach to the frame of the motorcycle. You may also want to go behind the ignition switch to make sure that everything is tightly connected. Any loose wiring will always cause trouble. You should go so far as to trace the main power feed all the way back to the battery for broken or worn out insulation.

Maintenance » How long should a v-twin engine last?
I was wondering how long a v-twin engine should last.  I assume with proper maintenance it should last a long time, but what is the average life in terms of mileage on this type of engine?
Maintenance » What is some good advice for changing and tightening spark plug?

I have consulted the users manual for changing the spark plug on a motorcycle.  However, I was interested if anyone can provide some more advice on how to poperly install them.

Maintenance » What to do if there is rust on the chain?
I have noticed some rust on the chain because the bike was not covered during a rain down pour.  Is it possible to remove the rust on the chain?  Or should I neglect the rust and just lube it anyway.
Maintenance » Need advice on how to lube the chain

If you use spray-on lubes, spray on to a warm chain. Make sure you don't over saturate the chain and spray the oil lube on the inside of the chain.  This will allow all slug to spray outwards, through the chain.

I also suggest lubing the chain every several hundred miles or when it looks dry.

Custom » Any suggestions on how to make a Honda sound like a Harley Davidson?
I was wondering if is was possible to get a motorcycle, such as a Honda Shadow, twink some stuff so it sounds like a Harley.  The Honda Shadow has a V-twin motor, so I thought maybe I could get strait pipes on it to get the sound I want.  Is this possible?  Any suggestions?  What do you think?
Head's » When was the Harley-Davidson knucklehead engine created?
I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the knucklehead engine of a Harley-Davidson.  I'd like to know when it first came out and any other information would be helpful.
