Flywheel

Flywheel
The flywheel is connected to the crankshaft in a motorcycle engine by literally being impaled on the crankshaft itself. It is set in place by a woodruff key, which is in essence a flat piece of metal that keeps the flywheel in one place as it spins with the crankshaft rotation. A drop of only three feet can damage the aluminum fins on a flywheel easily. Prevention is cheaper and will keep your flywheel in good order for reinstallation.
